About Our Council
Council 1062 was founded on December 10, 1905. It was named Frs. Dominguez & Escalante Council 1062 in December of 1976 named after the two Franciscan priests who trail blazed this area long ago.

Brother Al LeFabre is credited with creating the new name. Council 1062 works closely with St Josephs Catholic Church in Grand Junction, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fruita and St Ann's Catholic Church in Palisade. Although Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish of Grand Junction still has a round table representative, Council 1062 doesn't do as much there since they chartered their own Council (IHM Council 13621) on May 21, 2005. Members of Council 1062 work together on a variety of fundraisers that provide financial support for a number of charities in the Grand Valley, including Catholic Outreach, Soup Kitchen, Grand Valley Peace & Justice, KofC Scholarship fund, Marillac Clinic, Hope Haven, Hospice, Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics to name a few.

"Our People Are Our Strength..." - District Deputy for District #31 Jim Yankovich

50 year Honorary Member Andy Quintana and his lovely wife Jessie enjoy a repast after our October 2011 meeting.

Advocate Brooks Johnson, Kate Johnson, and newly born Bradley Johnson.  They are a very handsome family. Bradley will make a wonderful Knight. some day.  We wish them all God's Speed.

We also sponsor youth activities including the Basketball Free Throw contest and the annual "Keep Christ in Christmas" essay contest.

As a matter of fact, we hosted our 2011 award winners for the "Keep Christ in Christmas" contest at our council hall on December 15 for a traditional Christmas Dinner.  They read their essays to the gathering of Knights, Parents and Friends.  All were deeply moved.
